Griz-Wolves Trade Rumor, Other Draft Notes and Links
DraftExpress.com has posted a great round-up of rumors that leads with the suggestion that the Timberwolves, picking 3rd, may be targeting Kevin Love, who I’ve seen projected anywhere from 5th to 16th in mock drafts.
Draft Express’ Jonathan Givony brings the Grizzlies into this discussion with this passage:
There is already some talk that Minnesota will look to make a trade with Memphis GM Chris Wallace, who would then have the option of fortifying his front-court by drafting Brook Lopez at #3, or swinging for the fences and taking O.J. Mayo. Memphis could offer Minnesota the young prospect of their choice in Kyle Lowry, Hakim Warrick or Javaris Crittenton to help facilitate the deal. Wallace only has two more years left on his contract and needs to make as big a splash as possible in this draft to jump-start Memphis’ rebuilding process, meaning he could be leaning more towards taking Mayo, especially if his team is drafting 5th.
Meanwhile, Draft Express has updated their mock, with the Grizzlies taking Love #5 (potentially related to the potential Minnesota trade) and Jason Thompson at #28.
ESPN.com's Chad Ford has posted his second mock draft, this time with Anthony Randolph going to the Grizzlies at #5 (though it reads more like a suggestion than projection) and N.C. State forward J.J. Hickson at #28.
Frank Burlison at Fox Sports has some draft notes, mentioning Mayo, Love, and Randolph as potential Grizzlies picks. One note of mild interest: He suggests potential #28 target J.J. Hickson could land in the Top 20.
More notes and links to come in this space throughout the afternoon.
