Gearing Up

Well, things have been pretty quiet around here of late, aside from the Zach Randolph Scare. But, with training camp about a week and a half away, it’s time to get geared up for what should be an interesting if not exactly playoff-bound season. I’ll be starting with a position-by-position, pre-training camp look at where the roster stands, hopefully starting this weekend.

For now, though, a little housecleaning:

If you want an early glimpse at my take on this year’s Grizzlies’ squad, pick up the Lindy’s Pro Basketball preview magazine, on newsstands now. I wrote the Grizzlies preview.

Also, thanks are in order to Kelly Dwyer for his almost embarrassingly kind words about me and this blog in this Yahoo Sports piece, part of a team-by-team series about NBA blogs.

Finally, late yesterday afternoon, the NBA released the following press release:

Quote:
NEW YORK, September 18, 2008 – Michael Beasley of the Miami Heat has been fined $50,000 for his involvement in an incident at the league's Rookie Transition Program earlier this month, and for his initial failure to cooperate with a league investigation of the matter, the NBA announced today. Beasley was involved in the same incident for which Miami’s Mario Chalmers and Memphis’ Darrell Arthur were previously fined.

My reaction to this: Amusement. Given the Kansas connection, I only wonder where Bill Walker was.
